With the fact that a lot of you are planning a few days away, in the sun, in mind, we decided to put together this post. It is designed to help you to pack for your next warm weather vacation. Following these simple tips will ensure that you do not forget anything important, so you can spend more time relaxing rather than shopping for items you have forgotten.
Sun protection
If you are spending any time in the sun, you need to take a good pair of sunglasses, a hat, and some high factor sun cream. The evidence that spending time in the sun without protection leads to health issues is now overwhelming, so you really do need these items.
See the bugs off
In most hot climates, you will have to put up with insects that bite. Getting bitten is never nice and if it gets infected you can end up spending more of your time at the doctors than on the beach.
It is best to take your own bug spray with you. Sometimes you can buy it at your destination, but this is not always possible and the prices can be quite high. Taking your own is definitely the best way to make sure you are properly protected from insect bites.
Just in case medications
If you are travelling to a tropical location, it is also wise to take some basic stomach medications with you. The food is different, and the fact that it is warm means that it is all too easy to eat something that gives you a stomach bug. In that situation, having some anti-diarrhoea medication to take will usually enable you to control the symptoms enough to be able to still get out and about.
Cool clothing
When travelling to a hot climate packing shorts are a must. They are a great way to keep your legs cool, and get a tan. Try to pack a pair that has a couple of pockets, so that you can wear them for day trips. That way you will have somewhere to keep all of your stuff.
You are usually best off choosing clothes that are made from natural materials. These allow your body to breathe. In addition, they are more effective at wicking moisture away from your skin.
However, they also tend to crease more, so rather than pack 100% cotton t-shirts look for those that are made from a mix of fibres. You can easily buy 50/50 mix poly cotton t-shirts. These will not crease so much, and should still keep you cool.
Just in case items
Unfortunately, even if you travel to somewhere really hot there is still a chance that it will rain, so it is wise to pack some lightweight, fold up, rainwear. On dry but cool days, you can simply wear some of the clothes that you used to travel to the airport. These should be thick enough to keep you warm.
By following the above tips you should be able to stay healthy during your holiday, and be comfortable enough to be able to enjoy spending time in the sun.
