For the city that never sleeps, the night life needs to aspire to very high standards. And it very much does. The spirit of Mumbai at midnight is something that cannot be truly captured in words, it is something to experience. The same people who sombrely worked through the day will throw their suits away and put on their party hats come night time. Especially at these best 5 star hotels in Mumbai are paradise for people who love to party.
Mumbai – The City that knows how to Party
Be it the food, the people, the pubs – nothing parallels the experience of a night spent in Mumbai. From the southernmost tip of Colaba to the northernmost crown of Borivali, night time in Mumbai is something that is celebrated. Here are seven reasons why we think it is simply the best in all of India.
1. The City that Never Sleeps
This one is a no brainer. The city that never sleeps is also the city that parties through the night. Whether you enjoy walking along the breezy beaches with the wind in your hair and the sand at your feet or you like to groove and move to crazy dance numbers, Mumbai will keep you going through the night.
Shops and establishments are allowed to stay open through the night. This not only gives the night owl enough options, but also keeps the city vibrant and alive. Work hard, but party harder!
2. The Sheer Number of Options
There’s a bar, pub or a beach front for everybody. One night you may feel like shaking to groovy Bollywood dance numbers and the next you may want to unwind with some sombre jazzy tunes. Whatever it may be, Mumbai has a fix for you.
This isn’t concentrated in one locality either. The bars and pubs are well spread out enough that you don’t have to travel too far to get to a decent enough place. If bars and pubs are not your jig and you’re more of a live music kind of person, Mumbai’s got you covered on that front as well.
3. The Food Never Gets Old
All the partying and dancing is bound to get you hungry. In fact, the best remedy for a beer hangover is to put some good food in the system, and Mumbai is abound with options ranging from exotic midnight meals to on the go ice creams and sandwiches.
Food in the city never disappoints, there are options galore and you can always step outside for a few minutes to grab a bite and step right back into the party.
4. The Logistics and the Law
Getting from one point to another is never a problem in Mumbai, even if you’re too drunk to know North from South. The suburban rail runs well into the night and the best part is that the crowd on the train is probably returning from partying too; kindred spirits heading home. There’s also busses all night round should you miss the train.
If the rail isn’t really your jam and you prefer to take a cab, Mumbai is known for its honest and friendly cab drivers. On more than one occasion, we have left our fates in the hands of the Mumbai cabbie and he has delivered us home safe and sound.
One more thing of note about Mumbai is the helpful and understanding law enforcement. These brave men and women who uphold the law are always round the corner and very helpful to boot. They make your safety their primary concern.
5. Celebrities and Celebrations
This one might sound silly but don’t we just love to run into a celebrity out of the blue? Be it your favourite cricketer or King Khan himself, the chances of bumping into a celebrity in Mumbai are heightened due to the sheer number of them living there.
The other aspect unique to Mumbai is that due to its culturally diverse inhabitants, there’s almost always one festival or the other being celebrated. Oftentimes well into the night, this throws the city in hues of bright dazzling colours that are simply a treat to behold.
6. Midnight in Mumbai
Hanging out with friends on the streets of Mumbai in the night, with a starry blanket overhead, is one of the most beautiful and peaceful things you can do. There’s no fear for one’s safety either and you can basically just spend the night there talking and taking the sights in.
Walking alongside beaches is something that solitary gentlemen and couples do a lot. It can be cathartic and is one of the most calming things I’ve ever done. The rhythmic rise and fall of the waves, along with the night sounds and the picturesque moonlit waters of the sea will seep into your being and rejuvenate you.
For those who love cruising on long drives, Mumbai at midnight is perfect as there is very little traffic and just more people like you cruising along. The bright city lights, the cold winds and the starry skies all await to greet the midnight rider.
7. The People
Again, a no brainer. Mumbai is known for the amazing people. Unlike a lot of metropolitan cities, the people of Mumbai like to mind their own business and are quite helpful should the need arise.
This is one of the major reasons Mumbai is considered the safest city in India. Even solitary walks along the beaches should find the walker in no danger.
The people of Mumbai live by the motto – Work Hard, Play Harder! And most people you’ll run into at night will be people just like you, out to have a good time. They’re always ready to help you with a quick light or with directions home.
